What's so good about using intelLoc©?

intelLoc© automatically records your copyright work as you're typing it into your computer. Or you can just Copy&Paste them by following the intelLoc© guidelines, your material is copyrighted correctly according to the terms of the Hague Convention.

On top of that, the Patent Pending DESCS© System ensures that intelLoc© Members get independent, Third Party confirmation of the legal existence of their Copyright when they need it.

One of the most powerful ways to demonstrate that your Copyrighted Material is genuinely yours, is to have it recorded and registered by an independent Third Party with no axe to grind.

On the right, you'll see an example of the intelLoc© Copyright Registration Certificate. This is just one of seven ways that intelLoc© will help you prove your copyright claim.

intelLoc© is really cheap. It seems 'Too Good to be True'.

Yes, it IS good - but it IS true. Look at the price of a modern laptop - a couple of years ago, it would have been impossible.

intelLoc© uses the latest technology to cut down administration and printing costs to an absolute minimum - without compromising on quality and service. We're a small team and our Top Banana Programmer, Sebastiaan Kemna, has engineered intelLoc© to be highly efficient and 100% secure. We use the latest stuff and update our hardware and software almost daily.

So instead of pocketing the Big Bucks, we made a choice to pass the savings on to our Members. Without them, after all, we're toast.

What 'Intellectual Property' can I copyright?

A lot!

There are thousands upon thousands of original works recorded every month. These include 'Literary Works' such as Books, Articles, Songs, Music, Computer Programs, Databases, Brochures, Adverts, Manuals, Scripts, Plays and so on...

If you use any Social Networking sites like Facebook or Friends Reunited, anything you 'create' there, like your text or photos, is your copyright too.

Anything you publish on the Internet on a website, for example, is your copyright material. (Provided you created it or commissioned it).

Then there are 'Artistic Works' such as Website Designs, Ringtones, Website Content, Logos, Photographs, Paintings, Drawings, Cartoons, Sketches, Diagrams, Plans, Engravings, etc...

Not forgetting Sound and Music Recordings on mp3, CD's, computers, Films, Videos, youTube videos, Broadcasts, Soundtracks...

A lot!

So all I get is an Email and a Certificate?

Oh no. intelLoc© does a lot more than that. intelLoc© protects your Intellectual Property in no less than SEVEN different ways-

  1. Your work now carries your intelLoc© Verification Number. This is a unique ID number issued every time you hit the copyRight Now! button on your intelLoc© Workspace.

  2. You have your own printed copy of your intelLoc© Copyright Registration Certificate, cross-referenced with your intelLoc© Verification Number.

  3. Anyone trying to challenge your copyright can apply to the Administrator of the intelLoc© Copyright Registration Database to verify and cross-check your copyright on-line. This will carry a charge to them of $70.00. But...

  4. intelLoc© members have to option to use this facility free as part of their membership. When you decide to place Copyrighted Material on the Internet, your material carries a special, digitally-encrypted link. Anyone viewing the material and clicking on the 'intelLoc© Copyright CrossCheck' will receive an immediately warning, directly on their own computer screen, that your Copyright is correctly registered.

    This immediate Copyright Confirmation, at the click of a mouse, is the most highly effective way to dissuade anyone thinking about using your Copyright Material without your permission.

  5. Your copyright is further recorded as a physical document. This intelLoc© Original Recording Document is securely stored and bears your intelLoc© Verification Number. This is known as the intelLoc© Copyright Registration System, part of a Patent Pending process duly recognized and witnessed by the signature and seal of the intelLoc© Administrator.

  6. You or your Legal Representative can request a certified copy of the intelLoc© Original Recording Document be delivered by FedEx (or any other messenger service you choose). This document will have been witnessed and certified and proves the existence of your Copyright at the time you claim.

    In a Court of Law, that's a Powerful Piece of Solid, Physical Evidence that is Impossible to Deny in any Jurisdiction.

  7. Should you accidentally delete one of your copyrights by mistake, lose your printed intelLoc© Copyright Registration Certificate or should some such other 'disaster' befall you - your intelLoc© Copyright Registration Certificate is recorded in the intelLoc© Copyright Registration Database and it can be can be recalled - you've got a backup facility too.

If I have a Copyright Claim or a Dispute, what happens?

Simple. (See paragraph 6 in the section above.) An intelLoc© Member contacts [email protected] and request a copy of the intelLoc© Original Recording Document. This document is taken from storage in the intelLoc© DESCS© facility and copied officially. This copy will be sealed and certified recorded as a genuine facsimile.

This document is supplied free of any administration charge to intelLoc© Members in good standing. Members have to meet the cost of delivery and legalisation, which is typically $25 - $60 US depending on whether the Member wants the document by FedEx or normal mail.

Why should I Copyright my Material?

If you're a creator of original material, you have to ask yourself a few questions: Will your work -

  • Have a financial value?
  • Be used for financial gain?
  • Have a potential value?
  • Have the potential to be used by another person or company for financial gain?

If the answer to any of these questions is 'Yes', then you would be well advised to Copyright your material.

What's the Law on Copyrighting My Material?

It could not be simpler - you write the material you want to copyright down on a sheet of paper, write your name and the date at the bottom... and that's it. That's now 'Copyright', and it's yours.

This is the way that copyright is established, according to the terms of the internationally-recognised Treaty of the Berne Convention.

So if I can just write my name on the material, why would I want to use intelLoc© at all? What's the problem?

The problem comes when you have to prove that you copyrighted the material when you claim you did. In fact, cases of Copyright Infringement since the advent of the Internet have increased massively. Every minute, unscrupulous people and companies blatantly 'lift' copyright material from the Internet and use it to make literally millions of $$$'s, £££'s and €€€'s.

By becoming a member of intelLoc©, you record your own, legal copyrights AS YOU CREATE THEM. By using the intelLoc© Copyright Registration System, our members enjoy 2 big benefits -

  • They comply, simply and quickly, with the terms of the Berne Convention and
  • They can provide solid, 3rd party, witnessed, registered evidence that they definitely recorded their copyright when they said they did.

Can I copyright my material with the government? Like a Patent?

In some countries, yes. The USA provides a Copyrighting Service. It's costs $45.00 per copyright and it takes about 4 months to be processed. (2008). The process requires downloading and completion of a seven-page document that has to be completed and sent to the Copyright Office by mail.

Countries that don't have a Governmental Copyright Service often recommend the use of 'Poor Man's Copyright'.

What is 'Poor Man's Copyright'?

This is a simple process. If you write a song, a story, a sketch or poem, a software process or a logo, you simply write 'Copyright by [your name here]' and the date. That's now your copyright. Then you seal the paper in an envelope and post it to yourself by mail.

When you receive it, you don't open the envelope. In the event that someone steals your copyright, you take this to Court. Then the Judge opens it, proving that you copyrighted the material on the date on the envelope. That's the theory.

100 years ago, this was as good as it got. In the 21st Century, it must be clear as crystal to anybody who's ever used a computer that this is worthless. Nowadays it's very easy to manipulate or indeed, criminally counterfeit any kind of documentation at all.

Serious, creative people don't use this archaic, ancient method in the 21st Century. It's basically worthless and there are no court records that show any case to have been proven using this method.

If I use intelLoc©, do I still need to use a Government copyright?

What the intelLoc© Copyright Registration System does NOT do is to replace your country's official Copyright Service - intelLoc© DOES establish, clearly and unequivocally and within the terms of the Berne Convention, that YOU copyrighted YOUR material at the date and time you claim.

Some people do still use Governmental Copyright. One advantage is that in the even of a Claim, the US Copyright Office will provide a degree of legal assistance.

intelLoc©'s Patent Pending DESCS© system provides solid, physical proof that intelLoc© Members can show legal evidence of the existence of the Copyright at the time they claim - down to the exact second. This is a big advantage over some Government systems that can take months to even acknowledge receipt of a copyright.

intelLoc© proof is normally sufficient to challenge or prove any claim before a Court Case begins as it's clear, Third Party, Independent evidence.

However, intelLoc© Members are advised to use Governmental Copyright if they feel the need to do so.

return to top

Once I've Copyrighted my material, can I edit it?

No. Once you've hit the button that says copyRight Now! your copyright is 'fixed' and it cannot be altered in any way. This is to conform with the Berne Convention and protects intelLoc© and its Members from unscrupulous people trying to use the intelLoc© System to infringe on or steal other people's already-copyrighted material.

Not only can intelLoc© Members not edit their copyright - the DESCS© System doesn't allow intelLoc© to edit these copyrights. This is part of the Patent Pending process.

return to top

What exactly is this DESCS© Patent Pending process?

When the full Patent has been granted, I'll let you know!

return to top

But what if I want to add something to one of my Copyrights? Or improve it?

No problem. Just copy & paste this copyrighted work back into your WorkSpace, edit it and register the work again - the new registration takes effect immediately and the original copyright still applies. The updated material gets its own, fresh and updated intelLoc© Verification Number - that's double secure.

So you always have proof of the original copyright and later, subsequent copyrights of any improvements or changes you made to the original work, as and when you made them. All at the click of a mouse.

return to top

How many times can I copyright a work then?

As many times as you want. And the new registration costs you no more - it's included in your monthly maintenance fee.

return to top

How many Copyrights can I register in my intelLoc© Vault?

If you join as a Founding Member now, you can register as many text copyrights as you want to. Unlimited Copyrights at the moment, although this may change if demand proves too great. (Founding Members will, however, still qualify for Unlimited Copyrights. Those joining later - won't).

return to top

What happens if I decide to cancel my membership?

No problem. Your copyrights will reside in the intelLoc© DESCS© system for a full five years after you cancel your membership.

You can still request a copy of the intelLoc© Original Recording Document during this time. The administration charge (as you're no longer a Member) is $70 + legalisation & delivery.
